Helping Patients Adhere

How do you work with patients who don't follow through with their side of the care plan? Handling patients who don't adhere is one of the toughest challenges many home care clinicians face. This course covers key reasons for non-adherence behavior and teaches evidence-based strategies that can be applied to help patients adhere.

This course can be completed anywhere you have internet access.  It contains clinical case studies, downloadable/reusable tools, and exercises to help your patients increase adherence.

Health LiteracyAt the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Identify the dimensions of non-adherence to long-term therapies
  • Define the stages of intentional behavior change and assess patient readiness to undertake change
  • Explain the importance of Health Literacy in helping patients adhere
  • Effectively use the Teach-Back method to check patient understanding of new information

Increased adherence results in:

  • Less work-related stress
  • Better patient outcomes
  • Increased satisfaction with your job
