Resources, Resources, and More Resources in 2010

mcguire-final-croppedI recently received an email that makes us here at CHAMP exclaim, “yippee!”  It was a thank you note from someone working on creating new geriatric nursing resources for her organization, and she referred to our site as a “great source of information”.  It’s nice to hear that our efforts over the last year have not gone unnoticed!

In June 2009, we launched a “new and improved” CHAMP web site with a relatively small group of resources that we wanted to share with the larger home care industry.  When we noticed that the Resources pages were quickly becoming our most popular, we decided to step up our efforts to post more home-care specific, evidence-based resources on our site, with the help a network of subject matter experts and faculty

Since launch, we’ve pulled together a library of over 250 resources – 203 Tools, 65 Evidence-base items, and 20 Presentations, to be exact! Over the past year, we added resources for quite a few new topics, including: Depression; Healthcare Workforce; Family Caregivers; Sleep; Nutrition; Rehospitalization; Transitions; Wound & Skin Care; Clinical Coaching; and Health Literacy.   We also released “Clinical Coaching Using CHAMP Tools”  – a video to help frontline managers use specific tools with their staff.   And just this week, we’re adding more resources, including a few teambuilding activities, to help jump start the New Year!

Be on the look out for extra “resource alerts” in our blogs and on Facebook and Twitter in the coming year.  We’re also going to ramp up our efforts to hear more from you, our community of users. We want to know if the resources that we’ve shared have helped you improve care for your older patients.  With that said, if you’ve already had a chance to use some of the tools on our site, please fill out a super quick survey and enter to win a monthly raffle for a $50 American Express gift card.  Just click here.

Changing practices and promoting high quality care isn’t easy, especially in these turbulent times, so we promise to push ahead in 2011 to find more web-based resources that might help.

Happy Holidays and New Year!
